The Global Shea Alliance and 'Invest for Jobs', a German development ministry initiative, have launched a two-year project in Ghana to boost the shea value chain, primarily benefiting 30,000 women. The project aims to enhance the capacity of women shea collectors, improve product quality, facilitate direct sourcing, and develop public-private partnerships to remove investment barriers. This initiative is part of a larger effort to increase the profitability of the shea industry, which is crucial for the economic independence of women in northern Ghana, who rely on shea as a primary source of income. The project also aims to create jobs and have a positive impact on climate change.
