Gwangmyeong city opens its first strawberry smart farm in the city center

The former Upcycle Art Center near Gwangmyeong Cave in Gwangmyeong City was reborn on November 22 as the "Gwangmyeong Cave Strawberry Smart Farm." The Gwangmyeong Cave Strawberry Smart Farm, covering an area of 206 square meters on the former Upcycle Center site, features a 145 square meter enclosed vertical smart farming facility, as well as experience and exhibition rooms and an education hall. By applying smart farming technologies such as LED lighting, automated systems, and temperature and humidity sensors, strawberries are produced in an optimal environment regardless of the climate. The city plans to conduct a trial operation this year to confirm production volume and system stability, and then officially operate the smart farm starting in March next year. Strawberries produced at the smart farm will be used in experience programs for citizens, including strawberry picking, smart farm kit creation, and strawberry dessert making.
