The Gyeongnam Provincial Fisheries Resources Research Institute, in partnership with the National Institute of Fisheries Science, is launching a comprehensive breeding research project on five key aquaculture species: oysters, scallops, red sea bream, rockfish, and mullet. The goal is to enhance the quality of these species by developing healthier, faster-growing, and higher-quality varieties. The institute is also planning to set up the 'Gyeongnam Fisheries Breeding Research Center' to boost research capabilities and manpower. The research outcomes are anticipated to boost the competitiveness of aquaculture by providing improved varieties to local fishermen.
