(Changwon=Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Jeong-hoon = Gyeongnam Province announced on the 1st that it is pushing forward high-intensity prevention measures in response to the trend of African swine fever (ASF) spreading nationwide. The province has set the period until the 8th as a concentrated disinfection period for African swine fever, strengthening prevention measures targeting pig farms, livestock facilities, and livestock vehicles. A zero-tolerance policy will be applied to farms that violate prevention measures, including reporting, imposing fines, and reducing compensation for culling. Since the beginning of the year, African swine fever has occurred in broad areas including Gangneung in Gangwon Province, Anseong and Pocheon in Gyeonggi Province, and Yeongwang in Jeonnam Province, prompting local governments to strengthen their prevention measures. seaman@yna.co.kr
