On the 26th, Haenam County held a shipment ceremony for Haenam napa cabbage to be exported to Canada at the Seongjang Yeonong Cooperative in San-eup.
The quantity shipped this time is 40 tons, and a total of 1,000 tons is scheduled to be supplied to major H-Mart stores in Toronto and Vancouver, Canada, by March next year.
The exporting company, Seongjang Yeonong Cooperative, is an agricultural corporation that grows napa cabbage in the areas of Hwangsan-myeon and San-eup in Haenam. Moving beyond domestic distribution, this year marks the first time it has entered the Canadian market.
A county official said, "As a leading representative of K-Food, with the popularity of kimchi on the rise, the successful export of 1,000 tons to Canada is an opportunity to reaffirm the quality competitiveness of Haenam napa cabbage."
