The garlic harvest has commenced in Aksaray, Turkey, in which 80% of the population is reliant on agriculture and livestock. The region is expecting an increase in garlic yield this year, with an anticipated production of 200 tons from 100 decares of land, thanks to high rainfall and a shift towards organic and non-GMO production. Uğur Öngün, who is involved in the production, mentioned that this year's harvest has started 15 days earlier due to climate change but is showing a higher yield compared to the previous year. The garlic variety used is developed from local ancestral seeds and is expected to yield around 2 tons per acre.
