Ing. Agr. Marcelo Bonfanti, technical director of MM Agroconsultora, expressed in Nación Productiva that the cotton campaign in Chaco presented several challenges, from lack of water at the beginning of planting to excess rainfall from late February and early March, which will impact crop quality and yield, mainly due to high capsule rot. He mentioned that harvesting has not yet begun due to frost that delayed defoliation work and that the harvest expectation is around 2,500 kg/ha. He added that the break-even point is between 1,300 and 1,400 kg/ha with own collection equipment.
