West Azarbaijan province in Iran is projected to see a 10% increase in honey production in the current year, producing over 26,000 tons of honey. The province leads in honey production and bee colony numbers in the country. Iran ranks third globally in honey production, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. The country's honey production per capita is 1.415 kilograms, with around 155,000 people engaged in apiary activities. The Animal Science Research Institute has suggested increasing honey production per colony by three to four kilograms, attributed to the diversity of plants and pasture areas in the country.
