North Khorasan province in Iran has seen an 11% increase in honey production in the first 11 months of the current Iranian calendar year, producing a total of 3,179 tons. The province is home to 2.4% of the country's apiaries, ranking Iran third globally in terms of apiary numbers. The Animal Science Research Institute in Iran is working towards increasing honey production by 3-4 kilograms per colony, as per the Seventh National Development Plan. Currently, Iran has approximately 11.8 million bee colonies, with about 87,932 people involved in apiary activities, and the production includes various bee products, with a significant 10% being exported.
