Hungary is a leading European truffle exporter, with an average annual yield of 4-6 tons of summer truffles. The country provides ideal conditions for truffle cultivation, especially in regions such as Bükk, Jászság, Mecsek, and the Transdanubian Central Mountains. The Hungarian Truffle Association is playing a crucial role in this industry, having received a Ministerial Certificate of Recognition in 2018 for their efforts. They have also applied for EU protection for the Jászság summer truffle as a geographical indication. Additionally, the Ministry of Agriculture has registered 15 products under the EU's Geographical Indications program in the past four years.
