The Institute of Research of the Peruvian Amazon (IIAP) attended to 40 families from the native communities of Chapiza, Pampaentsa, Esperanza, Ajachin, and Candungas, delivering 30,000 boquichico fry (Prochilodus nigricans). This initiative aims to improve food security and income for the communities in the Amazonas region. The action was carried out through the Ministry of Production in the Santiago River basin. The fry will allow the Awajún and Wampis families to strengthen their fish production for local consumption and sale. The delivered stock is equivalent to approximately 8 tons of fish meat, with an estimated market value of S/160,000. With this initiative, the IIAP reaffirms its commitment to improving food security and income for the native communities of Amazonas.
