Imports into Spain of soybean meal and corn, two key products in livestock feed, grew in 2024, according to data published by the Ministry of Agriculture. Soybean meal imports reached 2.66 million tons, a 40.7% increase from the previous year, which saw a significant decline compared to previous years. In value, the increase was less pronounced, exceeding 1 billion euros. The Ministry's data on soybean meal imports in Spain in 2024 show that Brazil was once again the leading supplier, with a market share of 50.9% and sales to the Spanish market worth 546 million euros; followed by Argentina (410 million euros) and much further behind Germany (49 million), the United States (17 million), and Bolivia (17 million euros). As for corn, 9.38 million tons were imported last year, almost 2% more than in 2023, although in value there was a 17.5% drop, to just over 2 billion euros.
