Preliminary data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI) of Bulgaria reveals a significant increase in the country's oilseed rape imports, with figures for the period July 2020-June 2021 showing a fourfold increase to 78,000 tons. This surge is primarily due to a domestic shortage, resulting from low national production and large exports to the European Union in 2020. The period also highlights a rise in the production of rapeseed oil in Bulgaria. Additionally, the article notes a notable increase in wheat and barley exports through the Port of Varna, with wheat exports seeing a 62.3% rise and barley exports up by 21.6% compared to the previous year.
