According to operational data from the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan as of May 31, 2025, 5.6 million hectares of agricultural land have been surveyed for locust pests, with 844,000 hectares treated. According to the agricultural agency, treatment against Moroccan locusts in the Turkestan region is almost complete — 371,786 hectares have been processed, and territory cleanup is currently underway. In the Zhambyl region, measures against Moroccan locusts have been fully completed. Simultaneously, chemical treatment against Italian locusts continues on an area of 27,898 hectares. It is clarified that measures against locust swarms are actively being carried out in 15 regions of the country. According to the Ministry of Agriculture forecasts, in 2025, locust pest infestation in Kazakhstan may cover up to 2.1 million hectares.
