Japan has exported its high-priced, high-quality Sun Fuji apples for the first time in December 2020 to China, where they are sold in high-end supermarkets and through Wechat vendors. Originating from Aomori, Japan's prime apple-growing region, these apples are known for their red color, crispiness, and balance between sweet and sour. The lack of extreme climate changes this season has led to a higher quality crop. Each apple sells for USD10 in China, making them a luxury fruit option for consumers. Another Japanese apple variety, the Sekai Ichi, has also been imported and sold at an even higher price of USD16 per unit.
