According to statistics from Chinese customs, as of the end of August 2025, China had spent 1.27 billion USD to import 3.45 million tons of starch (HS 11081400). Compared to the same period last year, the amount of starch imported increased sharply by 42% in quantity, but decreased by 0.3% in value. The reason is that the average import price of starch into China decreased by 29.8% compared to the same period in 2024, standing at 368.4 USD/ton. In terms of the import market structure, Vietnam continues to affirm its position as the largest supplier of starch to the Chinese market in the first eight months of 2025, with over 1.65 million tons, an increase of 77.7% compared to the same period in 2024. However, due to the average import price of starch from Vietnam being 354.7 USD/ton, the value reached only 586 million USD, an increase of 23.4% compared to the same period last year.
