According to the Changwon Fire Department, etc., on the afternoon of the 21st, around 1:51 PM, a 60-year-old farmer, Mr. A, was run over by an agricultural transport vehicle at a tangerine orchard in Buk-myeon, Uichang-gu, Changwon City.
Mr. A was severely injured in the accident and was transported to the hospital, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
At the time, it was reported that Mr. A was working on the slope of the orchard when he was run over by the agricultural transport vehicle.
On the same day at 12:20 PM, a 70-year-old Mr. A was found in a state of cardiac arrest after being run over by a tractor that had tipped over in an orchard in Munsan-eup, Jinju City.
Fire authorities, who were dispatched after receiving a report from nearby residents, rescued Mr. B and transported him to the hospital, but he died.
Mr. B was reportedly traveling alone on his tractor to his persimmon orchard when the accident occurred.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the two accidents.
According to the Gyeongnam Changwon Fire Department, a total of 1,361 farm machinery safety accidents occurred in 18 cities and counties in the province from 2020 to 2024, with accidents occurring in September to November, when agricultural products are being harvested in earnest, accounting for 31.2% (425 cases) of the total accidents.
