In January 2021, EU agri-food exports decreased by 11% compared to January 2020, reaching a total value of € 13.5 billion. . Exports from the EU to the UK decreased in value by € 792 million compared to January 2020. There were also declines in sales to the USA (a decrease of € 254 million), Russia (a drop of € 110 million euros), Japan (a reduction of 66 million euros) and Saudi Arabia (62 million euros less). On the other hand, the value of exports to China increased by 146 million euros, driven by growing demand for pork and coarse grains, as well as rapeseed and sunflower oils. Higher export values were also recorded in relation to Chile (€ 29 million), Pakistan (€ 24 million) and Norway (€ 24 million). Agri-food imports from the United Kingdom fell by 874 million euros compared to January 2020. There were further falls in the values of imports from Argentina (126 million euros less), the United States (88 million euros less) and Indonesia (a decrease of 83 million euros).
