In January 2021, EU agri-food exports saw an 11% decrease compared to the same period in 2020, totaling € 13.5 billion, while imports were 16% lower at 9.1 billion euros. This resulted in an agri-food trade surplus of € 4.4 billion, an increase of 3.6% compared to January 2020. Exports to the UK, USA, Russia, Japan, and Saudi Arabia fell, while China saw an increase. Agri-food imports from the UK also decreased, along with those from Argentina, the USA, and Indonesia, but increased from Malaysia, India, Brazil, and Nigeria. There were also shifts in the value of imports and exports of specific products.
