In January 2024, Kazakhstan's import of Russian wheat fell by 33% to 185.6 thousand tons, compared to December 2023, as per the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan. The country also imported smaller quantities of barley, rice, oats, corn, and rye from Russia. Throughout 2023, Kazakhstan's wheat and barley exports to Russia were relatively low, not exceeding 6.5 thousand tons and 2.4 thousand tons respectively.
