Kazakhstan has seen a significant decrease in fish and seafood production in the first eight months of this year, with a 39% drop to 26.8 thousand tons compared to the same period last year. The decline is even more pronounced in the production of processed and canned fish, with a 48.6% decrease to 9.4 thousand tons, particularly in the Atyrau region due to outdated infrastructure. Despite the decrease in production, domestic demand for processed and canned fish has increased by 53.1%, but imports have also slightly increased. Sales have fallen by 30.1% to 48.7 thousand tons, with the North Kazakhstan region consuming the most fish and seafood. Prices for fish and seafood have also increased by 9% over the year.
