Annual grain transshipment is planned to be 1.5 million tons.
In Dagestan, the construction of a new grain terminal is planned, TASS reported in a press release from the Makhachkala Sea Trade Port.
"By the end of 2028, it is planned to create the necessary infrastructure, including the construction of a new grain terminal—the largest on the Caspian Sea. It will be designed for the simultaneous storage of 100 thousand tons of grain and annual transshipment of 1.5 million tons," a source told the agency.
According to him, the modernization of the container terminal is planned to be carried out with own funds.
"Currently, the construction of a four-lane road from the seaport, connecting us with the federal highways Astrakhan—Makhachkala and Rostov—Baku, is being carried out with funds from the federal and republican budgets," the press service added.
The Makhachkala Sea Trade Port is the only ice-free and deepest port of Russia on the Caspian Sea.
