The Pskov region in Russia is set to become a major hub for horseradish cultivation in the 2021 season, with local farm 'Agrofort' allocating 360 hectares for the crop, a doubling of last year's area. The farm expects a harvest of over 1 million tons of horseradish roots, building on last year's 850-ton yield from 170 hectares. Due to heavy rainfall, planting has been delayed until the soil dries out. Agrofort is investing in a special harrow to aid growth and is also considering introducing garlic into crop rotation. The company also aims to establish primary processing of horseradish and produce semi-finished products, as well as selecting a local horseradish variety.
