According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in 2025 the gross wheat harvest in the country decreased by 13.7% compared to the previous year to 17.9 million tons. Meanwhile, barley production decreased by 25.9% to 6.0 million tons, and corn production decreased by 4.9% to 8.5 million tons. Due to the poor harvest, Turkey is forced to increase grain imports. Thus, in the first 4 months of the current season, the country imported 1432.3 thousand tons of wheat, which is 28% higher than the corresponding figure last year.
