Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a large-scale oil palm initiative to achieve self-reliance in edible oil production, aligning with Prime Minister Modi's vision. The state plans to allocate around 3.75 million hectares of land to oil palm cultivation and has partnered with Patanjali Food Limited to develop plantations in seven districts. This initiative aims to revolutionize Assam's agro-economy, increase farmers' income, and reduce dependence on imported oils.
