A meeting between Deputy Commissioner R. Girish, the Merchants' Association, and the Horticulture Department representatives in Hassan decided on the maximum price for potatoes at ₹2,800 per quintal. This decision aims to regulate the price of potato, a crucial cash crop in several areas of the district. The merchants, who source seed potatoes from Jalandhar in Punjab, had requested a higher price of ₹3,000 per quintal, but their proposal was not met. The potato sale is set to commence on May 9, and the Department of Horticulture will provide guidance to farmers on cultivation practices.
