India's vegetable oil imports jump 11% in November

India's vegetable oil imports in November increased by 11% year-on-year to 1.17 million tonnes, driven by a significant rise in soybean oil purchases, which surged from 250,784 tonnes to 474,160 tonnes over the same period last year. Conversely, palm oil imports saw a decrease, falling from 589,268 tonnes to 477,160 tonnes. The total vegetable oil import bill for the 2020/21 business year ended Oct. 31, reaching a record 1.17 trillion rupees (US$15.71 billion), marking a 63% increase from the previous year due to rising international edible oil prices.
