Indonesia's meat consumption is currently low, with per capita consumption at 2.66 kg per year, which is less than the global average of 6.4 kg, according to Harry Warganegara, the main director of PT Berdikari. This situation is attributed to the country's purchasing power. Despite this, Berdikari is taking steps to meet the rising demand for meat due to economic growth and increasing purchasing power by collaborating with breeders from various regions. In 2021, Indonesia's beef consumption grew by 2.8%, reaching 717,750 tons, while domestic beef production increased by 23% to 437,783 tons. To make up for the shortfall of nearly 300,000 tons, the country relies heavily on imports of frozen meat and feeder cattle.
