Negotiations for the Framework Agreement for the management of the next tomato processing campaign in the Northern Italy Basin have resumed, with the industrial side willing to increase the average reference price by 20% compared to 2022 to compensate for farmers' increased costs. Despite economic challenges and a consumption stalemate, the industrial part has committed to recognizing a 40% increase in the two-year period 2021-2023. However, the agricultural side has shown no willingness to continue the confrontation, and the industrial body has expressed concerns about speculative requests, potential impact on the transformed product and consumer, and the need to maintain competitiveness.
