Engineer Ahmed Samir, Minister of Trade and Industry, affirmed the Egyptian state's keenness to advance the dates sector as one of the most promising sectors in terms of creating job opportunities, increasing exports and achieving the desired economic and social development. He pointed out that this trend is in line with the movement of giant modern projects that Egypt is currently implementing within the framework of presidential directives, which include the establishment of the largest palm farm in the world that includes 2.5 million palm trees in the areas of Toshka and Owainat. The minister said that dates represent a strategic crop, especially since Egypt is the world's largest producer of dates, producing about 18% of global production, and 24% of Arab production, with a number of fruitful palms exceeding about 16 million palm trees.
