Mexico: Inspection and surveillance operations for shrimp fishing were reinforced

The objective is to reinforce inspection and surveillance actions in the states of Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Tamaulipas and Campeche Mexico City, September 7, 2021.— The Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development, through the National Commission for Aquaculture and Fisheries (Conapesca), and the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), implement a joint strategy prior to and during the shrimp fishing season on both coasts of the country, with the aim of reinforcing inspection and surveillance actions in the states of Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Tamaulipas and Campeche. During the month of September there will be a deployment of Marine infantry with surface units and fisheries officers in the states of Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Tamaulipas and Campeche to monitor compliance with the shrimp season, the General Law of Fishing and Sustainable Aquaculture and Mexican Official Standards.
