Several countries including Ukraine, Serbia, Poland, Germany, Hungary, South Africa, United States, Moldova, France, Germany, UK, Japan, Norway, Greece, Norway, France, Italy, Japan, and Nigeria have reported outbreaks of African swine fever and avian influenza in pigs, wild boars, dairy cows, and wild birds. Additionally, outbreaks of type 3 bluetongue, sheep pox, Echinococcus granulosus infection, West Nile fever, rabies, epidemic hemorrhagic disease, and Newcastle disease have been reported in Europe, Israel, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, and Austria.
In the United States, the outbreaks were primarily reported in commercial dairy farms in California and Idaho, resulting in the infection and death of many dairy cows, as well as the culling of free-range poultry. In Moldova, the highly pathogenic avian influenza affected both wild birds and free-range poultry, leading to a large number of infections and deaths. France reported an outbreak of the H5N1 subtype of avian influenza in poultry, with significant mortality, and Germany reported an outbreak in Saxony. The UK reported six outbreaks of the H5N5 subtype of avian influenza in wild birds.
Apart from these diseases, other animal health issues were reported, including outbreaks of type 3 bluetongue in Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, and Austria, epidemic hemorrhagic disease in France, Newcastle disease in Poland, and West Nile fever in Germany, Israel, and Latvia.
