Georgian nut exporters are shifting their focus to Israel and the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, due to a decline in demand from the European Union. In the first half of 2024, Georgia exported $34.2 million worth of hazelnuts, with the EU as the main market despite a slight decrease from the previous year. Other key markets include Russia, Lebanon, Libya, Ukraine, and Algeria. Israel is becoming a promising market following a ban on Turkish nut exports. Georgia is the sixth-largest nut producer globally, with significant hazelnut, almond, and walnut plantations.
