The egg-laying hen industry in China is developing at a terrifying speed, to the point where it can be described as a "race against time." Particularly, the scale of the industry is rapidly expanding, and based on the number of hens, large-scale farms with 1 million hens account for 60 out of the 88 newly established egg-laying farms in 2023. While our country has an annual per capita egg consumption of 280 eggs, China has more than double that, at about 700 eggs. To examine the rapidly growing Chinese egg-laying hen industry, 15 domestic egg-laying farms visited Qingdao and Shanghai for 3 nights and 4 days from the 16th to the 19th of last month.
