Celebrated this week, the International Day of Rural Women reinforces the importance of women in food production and the sustainability of agriculture. The date was established by the United Nations General Assembly (UN) in 2007 to recognize the contribution of rural women to the eradication of hunger and poverty. In Brazil, this presence is gaining more and more space, with stories like that of agricultural engineer Gessyane Ribeiro, from the interior of Goiás, who will bring her experience to the Conference of Ministers of Agriculture of the Americas. The event will take place between November 3 and 5 in Brasília. Daughter of farmers from Inhumas (GO), Gessyane grew up among the lessons and challenges of rural life. Trained in Agricultural Engineering, she has built a career that combines traditional knowledge with technological innovation.
