Italian garlic, the Ismea point

A photograph of the Italy of garlic was taken by Ismea last March 14th on the occasion of the meeting of the international contact group in which the French, Spanish and Italian delegations took part. During the works, Ismea took stock of the production and market of garlic in Italy, as well as focused attention on EU imports from third countries. Italian production The main production areas in Italy are located in Campania (in particular in the provinces of Avellino and Caserta), in Emilia Romagna (with Ferrara and Piacenza in the lead), in Veneto (Rovigo) and in Abruzzo (Sulmona). As for the supply chain, approximately half of the garlic availability comes from internal production (48%), the remaining 52 from imports. 88% of volumes are intended for internal consumption, 12% are exported.
