Ismea's data shows that the main regions for garlic production in Italy are Campania, Emilia Romagna, Veneto, and Abruzzo. Half of the garlic supply in Italy is domestically produced, while the rest is imported from countries like Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, France, and Egypt. Italy also exports its garlic, mainly to Germany and Austria. In 2023, the country harvested 26,732 tonnes of garlic, marking a decrease from previous years, and the annual per capita consumption was 0.821 kilograms. The average price of Italian garlic is 7.96 euros per kilo.
