Italy's production of extra virgin olive oil is at a significantly lower level of around 290 thousand tons, compared to the average of the past four years. This decline is attributed to climate change, as a study by Coldiretti, the Italian agricultural producers association, highlights. The report also mentions that the wine harvest in Italy may decrease by 20% and fruit harvests by 30% due to the effects of climate change, with 2023 currently ranking as the second warmest year in Italy since 1800.
