The Mexican government has unveiled a strategic plan to boost agricultural and fishing product sales in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East. The plan, which was announced during the virtual workshop of the Mexico Pavilion at Foodex 2022, leverages the importance of Expo Foodex Japan in achieving success in the Asia-Pacific region. The agreement with Japan, signed in 2005, has led to a trade surplus of over $1 billion since 2016, with exports to Japan projected to reach between $1.3 and $1.3 billion in 2021. The National Agricultural Council (CNA) underscores the significance of Foodex 2022 for expanding into Japan and other Asian markets, representing a key step towards economic recovery post-pandemic.
