Vietnam, the world's second-largest coffee exporter, has experienced a significant rise in coffee imports, with nearly 98,000 tons valued at 371 million USD imported in the first eight months of the year, reflecting a 42% increase in volume and a 104% increase in value from the previous year. The 2022-2023 crop year saw a 14% rise in imports to about 102,000 tons. Despite this, foreign coffee is rarely found in the market, mainly appearing at fairs and exhibitions and priced higher than local coffee. Vietnam imports small quantities of high-quality, specialty, and processed coffee, but the majority are cheap raw coffee for instant coffee production due to increasing local Robusta prices. Key suppliers include Laos, Indonesia, Brazil, Colombia, and Ethiopia.
