[Korean Farmers' Newspaper, Reporter Kang Jae-nam] There is a call for effective measures to address the overproduction of winter vegetables in Jeju, which has been mitigated by the introduction of the 'Soil Ecosystem Environment Conservation Project.' Additionally, there is a demand for strategies to reduce agricultural management costs, which are higher than in other regions, and to prepare countermeasures for the import of duty-free American mandarins starting next year. The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Assembly's Agricultural, Fisheries, and Livestock Economic Committee (Chairperson Yang Young-sik) raised these issues during the first meeting of the 441st extraordinary session on the examination of the '2025 Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Supplementary Budget Proposal No. 2.' The soil ecosystem environment conservation project being promoted by the province aims to conserve soil and groundwater and manage winter vegetables.
