Jeonnam Province is making full efforts to support the production of 2026 K-seaweed to establish an eco-friendly seaweed farming base and secure a lead in the global market. According to Jeonnam Province, the production value of 2025 K-seaweed reached a record high of 84.04 billion won due to increased exports and favorable harvest conditions. For the 2026 K-seaweed, the plan is to install 920,000 seaweed rafts in 65,000 hectares of seaweed farms to produce approximately 500,000 tons of seaweed for stable supply. Currently, the seaweed farms are in the midst of the seeding work, where seaweed seeds are attached to nets. As of the end of September, about 40% of the planned seeding has been completed, and the seeding work is expected to be finished by mid-October.
