In Bulgaria in 2017, cabbage crops were grown on 1,848 ha. Among all the variety of different varieties and types of cabbage can be found kale (Brassica oleracea var. Sabellica). This cabbage falls into the category of healthy eating products. Due to the high content of vitamins, useful nutrients, macro- and microelements, kale is often called a superfood. Every year, exports to the world exceed 1.8 million tons of kale with a total value of more than 1.15 billion dollars. The top 5 world exporters confidently include China - 16.3% of total world exports, the United States - 10.4%, the Netherlands - 3.9%, Italy - 3.2%, and also Spain - 3.2% . China primarily exports kale to Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Russia, Singapore and South Korea. The largest increase in exports in three years showed three countries: Canada (+ 44.8%), Italy (+ 41.5%) and China (+ 29.4%).
