The National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA) has introduced a new forage oat variety, INIA 909 Katekyl, which is expected to boost the economic profitability of small and medium-sized farmers by 183%. The variety is known for its high genetic quality, early adaptation, and high production of green fodder and seeds. It also shows moderate tolerance to main pests and diseases, including flying smut and rust. The new variety takes an average of 105 days to reach the milky grain phase, which is ideal for forage conservation under the silage system.
