In 2020, Kazakhstan ranked second as a consumer of agricultural products from the Altai Territory in Russia, with purchases totaling nearly 116 thousand tons valued at $46 million, a 10% increase from 2019. The imports included cereals, oilseeds, finished products, and foodstuffs such as cheese, beer, and soft drinks. The top consumers of Altai agricultural exports were China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Latvia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Germany, and Afghanistan, accounting for approximately 82% of total agricultural exports. China's imports from the Altai region tripled, with a focus on pulses, oilseeds, and vegetable oils, while Mongolia's imports increased by 22%, with cereals and fat and oil products being the most popular. There was also a notable growth in exports to Germany, Kyrgyzstan, and Afghanistan, while exports to Latvia, Azerbaijan, and Belarus saw a decline.
