Kazakhstan has lifted temporary restrictions on the import and transit of pork and pig products from four Russian regions, following negotiations with Russia's agricultural watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor. The restrictions, imposed in December 2020 due to concerns over African swine fever, have been lifted for the Altai Republic, Kurgan, Novosibirsk regions, and the Altai Territory. However, restrictions on live animals from these regions and on pork products from other Russian regions remain in place. The article also highlights the challenges in cross-border trade of livestock products due to the lack of a unified traceability system in the Eurasian Economic Union, caused by the EEC's destructive integration approach.
