Kazakhstan retains third place among countries importing Russian wheat

Kazakhstan imported more than 2 million tons of wheat from the Russian Federation this season, which retains its actual third place in the ranking of the largest importing countries, Igor Pavensky, director of the strategic marketing department at Rusagrotrans, said at the Winter Grain Conference in Belokurikha.
Turkey remains in first place among the main importers, which imported 5.5 million tons of wheat from Russia in July-February against 4.9 million tons a year earlier. The second line is still occupied by Egypt, which has already imported 5.3 million tons against 3.8 million tons a year earlier. Saudi Arabia is in fourth place, imports to which amounted to 1.9 million tons (0.9 million a year ago), which allowed this state to bypass Iran (imports of 1.8 million tons against 4.8 million tons a year earlier). Kazakhstan itself has increased wheat exports against the background of the highest harvest in the last 12 years (16.4 million tons against 22.7 million tons in 2011). According to the results of September-December of the 2022/23 season, exports amounted to 2.8 million tons, which is 29% more than last year.
