The seventh meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Trade Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Qatar was held on July 4th in Astana. The meeting was co-chaired by Arman Khassenov, Deputy Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan, and Ahmed bin Mohammed Saeed, State Minister of Qatar.
During the meeting, the development of the agro-industrial complex and increasing meat export potential became one of the key discussion points. The Kazakh side reported that the range of agricultural product exports has been continuously expanding in recent years, currently reaching over 80 countries worldwide. Notably, in 2024, Kazakhstan's exports of sheep and goat meat to Qatar have exceeded $750,000.
The parties also reached a consensus on strengthening information sharing in veterinary quarantine and sanitary standards, and plan to deepen cooperation in the supply of Halal and organic products.
Beyond agricultural trade, representatives discussed further development of trans-Caspian international transport routes, Caspian port infrastructure construction, and the advancement of key investment projects. Investment cooperation between the two countries continues to strengthen. Data shows that in 2024, Qatar's direct investment in Kazakhstan reached $156.4 million, a growth of 18 times compared to the previous period.
