The Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) is assisting cassava farmers in need during the pandemic by offering to process and purchase their produce. The university has set up a demonstration dryer unit in collaboration with the Kerala State Horticultural Product Development Corporation (Horticorp), which can dry 60 kg of cassava per day. KAU has also produced around 300 kg of value-added jackfruit products and 500 kg of jackfruit seed powder. The university is planning to establish a one-tonne dryer unit in the Wayanad district. KAU has a comprehensive setup with numerous colleges, research stations, and extension units.
