Peruvian kiwicha exports recover

During the first half of 2022, Peruvian kiwicha exports have exceeded expectations. Shipments of this product totaled 701 tons for US$1.3 million. This was four times more in volume and three times more in value, compared to the same period of the previous year. On the other hand, the average market price decreased by 32%, trading at US$ 1.79 per kilogram. Likewise, during these first six months, the main destinations for this product were Germany, with a 48% share; the United States, with 20%; and Argentina, with 10%. Remittances of Peruvian kiwicha to Germany totaled 347 tons for US$600,000, showing a large increase, as 69 times more volume and 51 times more value were sent than in the same period last year. With this, this country became the main destination for this product. The price quoted in this market was US$1.72 per kilogram, 26% less than in 2021.
