In anticipation of Hari Raya Puasa 2024, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living in Sarawak has initiated the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) from April 5 to 19, deploying 189 enforcement and 97 monitoring officers. This scheme, covering 18 essential items marked with pink price tags, aims to ensure fair pricing for consumers by controlling the costs of various vegetables, meats, and spices. Violators face hefty penalties, including fines or imprisonment. This move is part of broader efforts to ensure the availability and affordability of essential goods like eggs and sugar, enhancing consumer welfare during the festive period.
