La Libertad: Strengthening production of Golden MD2 pineapple in the highland area of Otuzco

The Special Project Chavimochic, through its Technology Transfer team, held a Field Day on the cultivation of Golden MD2 pineapple, aimed at small producers from the Farmers Association “United for a Better Future”, located in the hamlet of Pagash, Otuzco province, La Libertad region. The activity was oriented towards strengthening the technical capabilities of the farmers in the management of the crop, irrigation, and sustainable production alternatives. The association, led by Mr. Fermín Villanueva, is made up of producers who manage around 10 hectares of pineapple, including the Red and Golden varieties. During the training day, specialists from the Special Project Chavimochic (PECH) developed practical content on the agronomic management of the crop, efficient water use, and biological pest control, promoting the application of sustainable inputs such as the beneficial fungus Trichoderma and sulfuric-calcic broth.
